Community Update - June 5

June 5, 2020

Dear KSS Families,

I hope that you all are in good spirits and good health.  As we wind down the school year, I am writing to share some important announcements with you.

The last day of school has been officially changed to June 19.  The last day that students will be assigned classwork is June 16.  Teachers will be available for office hours on June 17, 18, and 19.

We are presently packing up all student belongings that were left at school.  We are creating a schedule for families to safely pick up their child’s belongings the week of June 15.

School supply kits for the fall are now available for purchase.    You can purchase a kit for your child(ren) at www.shopttkits.comEnter our school’s account number 50865 and then select your child’s grade for the fall (2020 – 2021). The best part is that the kit will be waiting in your child’s classroom on the first day of school.

Please be on the lookout of summer reading activities.  Summer reading will be posted in your child’s google classroom in the coming days.

The district has created a Back To School Task Force to plan for the reopening of school in the fall.  There are subgroups for physical re-entry, instruction, medical, extra-curricular activities, and mental health.  If you would like more information about the task force or would like to volunteer for a subgroup, click here.

Please remember to vote in the budget and board of education election.  Ballots must be received at central offices at PCMS by 5 pm, June 9. At this point, it is recommended that you place your ballot in the lock box outside central office at 113 Bowman Ave between 8am and 4pm rather than in the mail to ensure you ballot is received on time.

Stay healthy,

Sam Ortiz
